    glass
  • Any similar substance that has solidified from a molten state without crystallizing

  • a brittle transparent solid with irregular atomic structure

  • A hard, brittle substance, typically transparent or translucent, made by fusing sand with soda, lime, and sometimes other ingredients and cooling rapidly. It is used to make windows, drinking containers, and other articles

  • furnish with glass; "glass the windows"

  • a container for holding liquids while drinking

  • A thing made from, or partly from, glass, in particular

    oval
  • In technical drawing, an oval (from Latin ovum, 'egg') is a figure constructed from two pairs of arcs, with two different radii (see image on the right). The arcs are joined at a point, in which lines tangential to both joining arcs lie on the same line, thus making the joint smooth.

  • egg-shaped: rounded like an egg

  • A body, object, or design with such a shape or outline

  • An oval playing field or racing track

  • ellipse: a closed plane curve resulting from the intersection of a circular cone and a plane cutting completely through it; "the sums of the distances from the foci to any point on an ellipse is constant"

Union Butterfield 3300(UNC) High-Speed Steel Thread Forming Tap, Uncoated (Bright) Finish, Round Shank With Square End, Bottoming Chamfer, H4 Tolerance, #12-24 Thread Size

Union Butterfield 3300(UNC) High-Speed Steel Thread Forming Tap, Uncoated (Bright) Finish, Round Shank With Square End, Bottoming Chamfer, H4 Tolerance, #12-24 Thread Size

The Union Butterfield 3300(UNC)/3300(UNF) uncoated, high-speed steel thread forming tap has a round shank with a square end, lubricant grooves in larger sizes, and is used for cold-forming right-hand threads in ductile materials such as aluminum, brass, bronze, low-carbon steel, and leaded steel. It is available in two different ANSI thread specification standards: UNC (Unified Coarse) and UNF (Unified Fine). It is suitable for threading through holes (extending through the workpiece) and blind or bottoming holes (with only one opening). The Rol-Form design includes lubricant grooves in machine-screw sizes 6 and larger to improve coolant flow.
Right-hand threads are designed to tighten when a head or nut is rotated clockwise (the most common threading direction). High-speed steel (HSS) is a common general-purpose steel for cutting tools and is compatible with a variety of materials. With no coating or surface treatment, this uncoated tool can be used on a broad range of materials and provide an economical alternative to coated tools. The square end shank helps to minimize rotation in the tool holder. This thread forming tap can be used in machines such as drill presses or lathes.
Union Butterfield 3300(UNC) and 3300(UNF) taps are available with a variety of chamfers. This tap conforms with ANSI standards and can create threads to a depth 2 ? times its diameter. It is suitable for ANSI 2B and 3B tolerance classes: 2B is an average quality fit for commercial and industrial fasteners; 3B produces close-tolerance fasteners that resist loosening, as in aerospace applications.
Taps produce internal threads in previously formed holes and can be used in machines (such as drill presses) or with hand tools. Common types of taps include hand taps, spiral point taps, spiral flute taps, thread forming taps, and pipe taps. Hand taps (straight-flute taps) collect chips in the straight flutes of the tool; spiral point taps push chips through holes ahead of the tool; and spiral flute taps pull chips back from the tip of the tool, up and out the hole. Thread forming taps, also known as cold forming taps, press rather than cut to create threads in a drilled hole, and no chips are created. Pipe taps create threads in pipes and pipe fittings. Each thread type designates a thread profile and each type is identified with an abbreviation. In the U.S. and Canada, the Unified Thread Standard is the dominant thread type, including UNC (Unified Coarse), UNF (Unified Fine), and NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads, among others.

Union Butterfield 1545(NPT) High-Speed Steel Pipe Tap, High-Hook, Uncoated (Bright) Finish, Round Shank With Square End, 1-1/4"-11.5 Thread Size

The Union Butterfield 1545(NPT) uncoated, high-speed steel pipe tap has straight flutes with high hook and a round shank with a square end, and is used to create NPT (National Pipe Taper) right-hand threads in a range of materials, with strength in carbon steel and alloy steel. NPT thread is an ANSI-standard thread configuration designed to be used with a sealant to create a leak-free tapered pipe joint. The straight flutes are suitable for threading through holes (extending through the workpiece) and blind or bottoming holes (with only one opening). This tool has deep flutes with high hook to manage long curly chips.
Right-hand threads are designed to tighten when a head or nut is rotated clockwise (the most common threading direction). High-speed steel (HSS) is a common general-purpose steel for cutting tools and is compatible with a variety of materials. With no coating or surface treatment, this uncoated tool can be used on a broad range of materials and provides an economical alternative to coated tools. The round shank with square end helps to minimize rotation in the tool holder. This tool can be used in machines, such as drill presses or lathes, or with hand tools such as tap wrenches.
In the Union Butterfield 1545(NPT) series, taps with nominal diameters of 1/16” to 1/2” have four flutes, taps with nominal diameters of 3/4” to 1 1/4” have five flutes, and taps with nominal diameters of 1 1/2” and 2” have seven flutes. In this series all taps have semi-bottoming chamfers. This tap conforms to ANSI standards and is suitable for normal pipe thread tolerance.
